The modern PC is a chaotic jumble of old files, fragments of unwanted software and spyware. If you don’t know what you are doing and don’t take heed to the many warnings out there, you’ll find yourself with a virtually useless computer that is bogged down with tons of garbage or worse. Thankfully, there are some great programs out there that can help. Uniblue’s PowerSuite (which consists of Uniblue’s other programs, SpeedUpMyPC, RegistryBooster, and DriverScanner) is one of the newest weapons in this fight – let’s see how it measures up.
Installation with this software is as easy as most software these days and doesn’t require much on the part of the user. Whenever it prompts you to click “Next,” you click it. It’s that simple. Uninstalling is just as simple and complete, leaving nothing lingering on your PC. This is the whole reason for this type of software (getting rid of leftover junk), so it’s good to see that it doesn’t perpetuate the problem.
How easy is this software to use?
The most important thing to me whenever I do these reviews is interface. How easy is this software to use? In my opinion, there’s nothing worse than a piece of supposedly-great software that shuts the user down with its complexity. Fortunately, PowerSuite is not another one of these culprits.
All three of the programs that are a part of this package function virtually identically, so if you know how to use one you know how to use them all. They’re all easy to work with and navigate, and it seems like Uniblue actually went out of the way to make it this way for their customers.
PowerSuite includes a system cleaning utility comprised of a file shredder, uninstaller, junk file remover, and privacy scanner
So what does PowerSuite actually do? Well, through the use of the three programs included in the package, it can create registry backups, optimize your PC’s memory, detect spyware, and defrag. It also includes a system cleaning utility comprised of a file shredder, uninstaller, junk file remover, and privacy scanner for getting rid of temporary Internet files and cookies.
After trying out all these options on a computer I knew was in dire need of a cleanup (I always have one on hand for just an occasion), I found it to be about as quick as you’d expect and very thorough.
PowerSuite costs you about $60, so it’s definitely worth it if you look at the software included priced individually. Each program normally costs about $30 a piece, so if you are going to get two of the three you might as well pick PowerSuite up and get the third one for free. By the time you put your PC through the paces provided in this software package it should be clean and raring to go. I always recommend an anti-virus program specifically designed for that purpose, but other than that this software package should be all you need.
Uniblue PowerSuite Summary
At the end of the day, I’d say that PowerSuite 2009 is definitely worth picking up. No matter who you are, if your PC is connected to the Internet you are going to end up with some extra junk you don’t want on there. Heck, even if you’re—for some strange reason—not connected to the Internet you could still have some remnants of old software that needs to go. It only costs $60, and it is well worth it. You could try downloading some freeware to do the same job, but trust me; most of that stuff is loaded with spyware. It’s ironic, but true. So give PowerSuite a try and see if it can get your PC back in gear.
