Anyone that’s been using a PC for a few years is familiar with a hard drive crash. It happens to the best of us – no matter what kind of great, supped-up computer you have. There are a lot of different services, software and other methods out there for backing up your PC in case of a failure, but here we will review Acronis True Image Home 2010 and let you know whether it’s worth your dollar or not.
The first thing that I always look for in new software is usability. Thankfully, Acronis True Image Home doesn’t disappoint. It has a very smooth install that went off without a hitch (for me) and gets up and running in just a few minutes. Your mileage may vary, of course, depending on the speed of your PC. Installation and set up is a step-by-step process that also gives you a chance to look at the User Guide or contact customer support simultaneously if need be.
The next big thing I always look for is what sort of interface the software has. Doing these reviews, you come across a lot of pure garbage programs that simply has to be tossed out. Acronis True Image Home 2010, however, is not one of these programs.
The User Interface is very straightforward and Intuitive
I found the interface to be very straightforward and intuitive. It’s a pretty simple set up that pretty much anyone that has purchased the software will be instantly familiar with. In other words, if you know enough about computers to know the dangers of hard drive failure, you’ll be able to figure this out.
Disk Backup Feature
When it comes to features, Acronis True Image Home 2010 covers all the bases. The core of the program, of course, is the Disk Backup feature. Disk Backup has a ton of features within it that allow you to really customize your backup; you can backup your entire hard drive, or just your emails, for example. There’s a scheduler included as well, so you don’t have to manually do a backup whenever (or if ever) you remember.
Try & Decide Feature: New and improved easy rollback of system changes
The “Try & Decide” feature is one that I found to be particularly cool. With this feature, you can turn it on and install new software, remove files, or perform whatever changes you can think of, then go back and delete all the changes or keep them. There is a little walk through you will probably have to go through to fully understand and use this feature, but it’s well worth it. I myself have downloaded something that’s made my system unstable, so I have to do a “system restore” to basically get my computer back. This nifty feature makes this process so much quicker and painless.
File Shredder, Disk Cleanser, and System Cleanup Features
Privacy protection is more important than ever these days, and Acronis True Image Home 2010 has tools aplenty to help you there. File Shredder, Disk Cleanser, and System Cleanup features all come with the software and all are just as easy to use as the aforementioned features.
Acronis True Image Home 2010 Summary
All in all, Acronis True Image 2010 Home is a great piece of software for anyone worried about hard drive failure – and it will happen to you eventually. Sure, you could go out and sign up with one of the many services that provides online backup, but you will be paying a monthly fee, rather than the one-time $50 you’ll pay for this program. There are other methods of backing up your hard drive, but if you want something simple that has everything you need in one convenient package, you really can’t beat Acronis True Image Home 2010.
