In this day and age, everything is going digital. In the coming years, we’re going to see more and more digital documents, and less paper documents. Paper documents are great for their tangibility, but the reality is that digital documents have the upper hand in conserving the environment and convenience. Nuance’s PaperPort is a great program for people who need to scan and organize many documents in a digital format.
Essentially, PaperPort is a program that allows users to organize their various documents all in one simple place. It takes imported or scanned images or documents and pulls them all into one place where you can organize them for sending out via email or posting on websites, among other things.
Installation is a snap, though it may take an extra few minutes if your PC is particularly slow. When we installed PaperPort on our machine, we found that it really took no time at all and didn’t appear to leave a huge stamp on our machine as far as speed and performance goes. There is the customary online registration that takes an extra few minutes, of course, but this step can easily be skipped if you wish (though it may behoove you to register down the road).
As far as interface goes, PaperPort is just as easy to use as other Nuance products. It is very streamlined, and a no-nonsense type of program, with simple icons and tags that allow you to quickly navigate to what you want to do with no hassle. It is even adjustable to your preferences once you really learn how to use it. The “How To” guides that came with the program were especially helpful in getting PaperPort to do what we wanted.
Another bonus of PaperPort is that it now comes bundled with PDF Create! So you can easily scan in or import any document and turn it into a PDF. The PDF format is very popular, so this feature will turn out to be invaluable in the long run.
What it all boils down to is that PaperPort is the program that you may have never considered, but cannot live without if you are handling a lot of documents in various formats. PaperPort is like a “virtual file cabinet” for all your PDFs, Word documents, and Excel files. It’s a one-stop program where you can easily manage all these documents and organize them how you see fit.
