Everybody knows about the importance of antivirus protection. If you are online (and everybody is) or somehow otherwise connected to other computers and devices (once again, who isn’t?) you are at risk. Believe it or not, there are people out there that design malicious programs just for the sake of it. Quite often, however, such programs are even more insidious; designed to steal information from the user. There are a lot of programs out there that are competing for the position of “top antivirus software,” but Norton was one of the first and still remains at the top of the heap. Let’s see how their newest version holds up to scrutiny.
Norton has been at this a long time, so it’s no surprise that Norton AntiVirus 2010 is very easy to install and get running. It’s basically just a few clicks and takes a few minutes. The interface, likewise, is great. Despite what others may say about older versions, interface is something that Norton has always done right.
Everything is spelled out right there for you to see when you run a scan for malicious material on your PC. You can choose to view as much or as little information about what’s going on as you wish. Some folks, like me, want to know exactly what’s going on at your computer and wish to see all the gritty details. Others, however, just take a “out of sight, out of mind” approach and just prefer to dump the bad stuff when it shows up on their antivirus scan.
After testing, our PCs were cleaned of any problems, plain and simple
Some of the complaints about previous versions of Norton AntiVirus have been addressed with Norton AntiVirus 10. In the past, there have been detection issues and problems with the software treating something harmless as malicious and deleting it. After using Norton AntiVirus 2010 on a few computers over the course of a few days, I can say without a doubt that these issues have been solved. None of the PCs we have been running Norton AntiVirus 2010 on have had any such issues. They were cleaned of any problems, plain and simple.
Norton AntiVirus 2010 pulse updates which go off every 5 to 15 minutes
As for the technical aspects of Norton AntiVirus 10, it does the usual stuff, such as automatically detecting malicious downloads, performs deep scans and helps clean up your PC. One great thing this new version does is its “pulse updates” which go off every 5 to 15 minutes, as long as you are connected to the Internet. This way, you can be assured that your PC will always have the most up to date virus protection. Without this, the latest Trojan or Malware could sneak by your protective software in a matter of hours.
When it comes to price, Norton AntiVirus 2010 is really a steal. It’s only $39.99, which is about half of what I’ve seen some other major antivirus programs sell for. Considering that Norton is a major name in the antivirus software business, it’s a pretty big deal that they’re selling it at such a low price. Maybe they’re feeling the pressure of the poor economy like everyone else, or maybe they’re making up for poor previous versions. Who knows? All I know is it’s a bargain.
Norton AntiVirus 2010 summary
Overall, Norton AntiVirus 2010 is highly recommended for anyone looking for a good antivirus program to protect their PC. It has a great price tag and Norton has taken the time to address all the issues that previous version had to create a great product this time around. The quick pulse updates were one feature that I found particularly attractive. Give it a try and see for yourself!
