B4B asked:

We are having twin boys and wanted some opinions on our registry. I am really concerned with getting everything we’ll need immediately after the babies are born up to 3-6 months old. Things like outlet plugs, cabinet locks, booster seats, etc. we just assume buy when we need them. My husband and I are very simple people and want to be sure we get the bare necessities. People complained that our wedding registry didn’t have enough to choose from. That was because we only put the things on that we absolutely needed and wanted. I don’t want to fill it up with useless things that will sit around for months before getting used and have to run out and buy things we’ll need immediately. I am currently set up at Babies R Us and Target with about 30-40 items on each. If you were going to shop my registry would you find it annoying not having much to choose from or should I just go ahead and fill it up with everything?

It doesn’t bother me if there is tons or a little bit on the registry.

I think it depends on the shopper and what those 30-40 items are.
There are a lot of people who like to buy the big stuff like high chair, walker, exersaucer, swing… etc.

I would recommend a boppy pillow. Pods or bumbos chairs are nice as well.

I say fill it up. People like a lot of variety to choose from. If you find that you are getting more things that you need later and then take back a few things and get what you need now. The odds are you are probably going to get a few things that you have more then two of and you are going to have to take them back anyway. For our sons baby shower we ended up having to take back over hundred dollars worth of merchandise because we had doubles. Don’t forget that kids grow fast and you will be using outlet plugs and cabinet locks before you know it.

I would say go ahead and fill it up. It will give the shoppers more options… can buy lot of the “little” cheaper things or one of the more expensive things. I personally usually like to make up a gift bag/basket with a lot of things from the registry. The last shower I went to I got- sippy cups, travel containers for snacks, baby spoons/forks, teething rings, passiphires, baby comb, booties and hat set, and a little pair of sandals… I think that’s all. They were the cheaper things on the list but not the cheapest and I got to make a cute display basket out of it.
