Run a AVG scan for trojans or spyware , its free on the net, also use tune-up utilities to optimize your system … but first of all you must have at least 1 gb iof RAM..

Try doing a defrag
START>>PROGAMS>>ACCESSORIES>>SYSTEM TOOLS>>DISC DEFRAGMENTER
This will take ages – be patient, or go out for 3 or 4 hours
