Ccleaner is a free registry booster (just Google it) that works pretty well as far as cleaning up your registry, internet history, etc. Run the memory diagnostics tool under Administrative tools in control panel (assuming you’re using a Windows machine)

Get rid of unwanted programs, run diskcleanup (try CCleaner) and defrag using a good program like Diskeeper. It’s the best out there. If your drive is severely fragmented or has less than 15% free space, just set it to automatic mode, it will defrag in the background without any conflict.
    This will boost the speed.

    The possible reasons of computer running slow are in the following;
    1. your computer may be caught by virus
    2. too many junk files in C drive (operating system)
    3. start too many programs at one time and dozens of programs and services — most of which you don’t need — start up automatically.
    4. lack of virtual memory
    5. too many icons on your desktop and too many fonts installed

and how to solved these problems?
    1. use a anti-virus software to scan your computer thoroughly
    2. clean up and optimize your registry, you can delete rubbish files, stop unnecessary start-up programs and uninstall useless applications. you can do it by yourself or rely on a registry optimizer.
    3. set up virtual memory. MY COMPUTER→PROPERTIES→ADVANCED→PERFORMANCE… MEMORY→CHANGE, to set up minimum virtual memory 1.5 times the physical memory and maximum 3 times the physical memory.
    4. clean up icons on your desktop or put them into a file.
    5. delete fonts of infrequent usage. when the fonts you install are over 500, your computer’s performance will be influenced.

1.From IE, click Tools, Internet Options
    delete cookies
    delete files (offline files)
clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want)
    click o.k., and Restart
2.click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools – run Disk Cleanup
    3.Temporarily close Quick Launch:
Right-click on the Taskbar, click Toolbars, deselect Quick Launch
    4.Open My Computer
    right-click on C:
    click Properties
click Tools, select Error Check (check all and fix), when finished click defrag & run.
5.click Start, Run ipconfig renew (type ipconfig space renew)
6.Restart. Right-click on Taskbar, click Toolbars, select Quick Launch to restore

All these things should be done regularly. The more frequently they are run, the less time they take.
-Note: Games and videos are mostly graphics. Graphics create large files. If these suggestions don’t help, you might need more memory.

Last, if you haven’t cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC’s resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.
